Leaking from Nipples / Breast

Nipple discharge can occur normally during the last weeks of pregnancy and after childbirth when breast milk is produced. But some women may notice leaking / discharge from their nipples during pregnancy, and this is normal and nothing to worry about. In pregnancy, the breasts may start to produce milk weeks or months before you are due to have your baby. It also be normal in women who are not pregnant or breastfeeding, especially during the reproductive years. For example, in women, fondling, suckling, irritation from clothing, or sexual arousal can stimulate a nipple discharge.

But If the milk leaking from your breasts becomes bloodstained, talk to your midwife or doctor.

If leaking bothers, try putting a tissue or an absorbent breast pad (maternity breast pads, or nursing pads) in bra to absorb the milk. Maternity breast pads are available in some pharmacies and mother and baby shops.
