Two Week Old Baby Left With Second Degree Burns On Her Foot After Nurse Used Overheated Gel Pack During A Routine Check Up

An 11 day old baby has been left with second degree burns on her foot after a nurse held a heated gel pack against it during a routine check up.

According to  web publishers repoerts , the mother of this child, Dana Martinez, 24, from Texas, had said that she had taken the newborn Mila to Marble Falls to Children's Health Center on June 20 for a blood test when the injury happened. Martinez said a nurse heated a gel pack in a microwave for 20 seconds before holding it to her daughter's foot in order to draw blood to the surface.
As soon as the pack touched little Mila's foot she began screaming, and after the blood was taken she rushed to get a doctor.

Mila suffered second-degree burns to her foot. Martinez is now calling for gel packs to be banned from pediatricians' offices to avoid another child being injured the same way.

Martinez said: 'It's heartbreaking as a parent to watch your innocent baby suffer.
'She has no voice and since nothing is going to be done about this matter I must speak up for her.
